£200 REWARD – Red Bank Highwayman

I found this interesting bit of history while searching the web, this is a bit of text about the “THE SUN” Newspaper, from Thursday 13th November 1800. This Issue features a prominent front page advertisement announcing a £200 REWARD for the arrest of the HIGHWAYMAN who robbed the WARRINGTON MAIL between WINWICK and RED BANK HILL. The party was split up into groups of approximately seven, each group being in charge of a guide from The Vulcan Foundry staff. The small size of the groups made it possible to allow extra time at any point where the members found anything to inspect of particular interest, without holding up the schedule of the visit to any appreciable extent.
